In relationships, quite often we feel unappreciated. If you are doing things for your friends, family, or partner and you feel they are not getting noticed or you are not appreciated, then here are 3 tips to start being appreciated:
- It starts with you. First, stop blaming the other person. When you feel under appreciated, it is natural to immediately get upset with or blame the other person. This does not and will not produce the result you are looking for; instead, it will cause more feelings of under appreciation and sometimes resentment.
- It starts with you. Second, notice how much you are expressing appreciation of the other person or acknowledging the things they do for you. More often than not, you will notice that you are not complimenting or validating the other person. In order to receive validation, you have to be willing and follow through with giving it first. Make time to acknowledge the other person at least once a day, face to face, looking directly at them with gratitude while you are expressing your thanks.
